Center for Continuing Education
In Japan, the Fundamental Law on Education recognizes life-long learning as enriching to people's lives. After a busy time at work or home, it is beneficial for people to spend time doing something for themselves that is rewarding and fulfilling. With the same goal in mind, The Center for Continuing Education at Toyo Eiwa University, in the 25 years since its establishment, has continued to grow and has increased its offerings, providing a wide array of courses to the general public. Through these courses, participants have made lasting friendships and have had significant encounters with other students, teachers, and learning materials.
In 2023, as in 2022, most of the courses have been held face to face. However, to take advantage of the convenience of online courses for some learners, the number of online courses also increased, and they have attracted participants from a wide range of areas. Both face-to-face and online courses have their own merits, leading to meaningful learning for all participants. Our further goal is to maintain a high standard of academic quality and to respond to the various needs and interests of an ever-widening audience who wish to engage in further learning. In order to create a better future for the region and society, courses at our university's Center for Continuing Education focus on not only culture and education, but also on lifestyle, development of career skills, and societal/regional revitalization. We continue to open new courses to provide learning opportunities to meet the needs of society.

Institute of Media and Communication Studies
Contemporary society has been rapidly changed by evolving Computer-
Mediated Communication (CMC). Online public opinion and online stock
trading influence current political and economic mechanisms. Moreover, family
life and interpersonal relationships are changing, too. At this Institute, the rapid
change in contemporary society brought on by the new media environment is
considered from the perspectives of the humanities and social sciences.
Furthermore, the Institute aims to contribute to research and education
concerning media and communications.
Institute of Applied Human and Social Sciences
The core of our study field is RISTEX, a gigantic research project initiated by Ministry of Education and Science, Government of Japan, in 2000, and refers to application of human and social sciences to traditional areas of natural and technological sciences. Yoichiro Murakami, one of our former University President, and Koichi Okamoto, ex-professor, were among the initiators of this governmental project. The research interest at our institute has focused on (a) mitigation of psychological reaction to Fukushima's atomic accidents after the earthquale, (b) psychological intervention to PTSD caused by disasters or professional engagement, (c) post-disaster mitigation, and will focus on (d) assessment of computer-driven psycho-therapy. RISTEX has donated a huge amount of risk literature to this institute in 2006. Making it available to researchers in and outside Toyo Eiwa is another important mission of ours, as the size and quality of our literature is unrivaled in Japan.
